It was a unique hotel, no complains at all, strongly recommend. I liked the historic-style building, well-kept and tastefully decorated room. The location was good, to trans-alpine railway, it's a plus.

Location: the hotel was just off Jabs art gallery across the road, the most stunning valley with mountains surrounding, and Otira for coffee n look around at th old Otira stage coach pub n museum. The breakfast had REASONABLY PRICED choices, including coffee, tea and cereal, sadly we were in a hurry and didn't try all of it.
Nothing to mention.

This hotel is full of character and charm! The vintage furniture in the rooms adds a nostalgic touch, making you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The attention to detail is impressive, from the lined up toilets to the hidden ceramic animals under the seats. And the location, nestled in the mountains, is simply breathtaking. You can cozy up next to the fire with your laptop and watch TV or explore the hills and forests just a stone's throw away. Oh, and the breakfast with freshly ground coffee is the perfect way to start your day!
No major issues, everything was perfectly fine.

Spent New Year's Eve at a hotel that was different from everything I had seen. The history of the place was unique, with antiques all around that gave the hotel a museum vibe. The family-friendly atmosphere and the animals outside, including a parrot, pigs, ducks, and guinea pigs were a bonus. The location was convenient too, as it was close to Arthur's Pass, with several walking tracks nearby. The friendly owner and staff made the meals worth their price too.
The hotel could not deliver a decent hanging facility in our room, and the space was too cramped for three people. , the lack of toilets and showers for eight rooms was a downside.

The hotel is located in a unique spot next to the railway line in the heart of the Arthur’s Pass National Park. Its location makes it a great spot to watch freight trains and enjoy the proximity to Arthurs Pass village. the hotel has a lounge room with a massage chair, infrared sauna, and various refreshments.
The hotel could improve its staff numbers to address some minor issues, such as cleaning, and to replace locks that are no longer functional.

We had the most amazing stay at this unique and historic hotel. The rooms were beautifully appointed with antique furniture and modern amenities. The cozy guest lounge upstairs was perfect for relaxing with a cup of tea. The owner, Lester, was a wealth of knowledge about the area and even demonstrated old inventions for us. The bathroom was gorgeously appointed with a strong, hot shower. We were thrilled to discover the hidden treasures throughout the hotel, with artifacts from all over the globe. we highly recommend this hotel for an unforgettable experience.
